About AnitaAnita Pace, a California native, has written two anthologies about subjects she knows too well; the pain and anguish of panic attacks and agoraphobia, and the loss of relationships with other women. Her interests include animal rescue as well as informing others about the unique value of each animal.
She grew up in Los Angeles and studied Social Welfare at California State University Northridge where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree. Her intention was to become a therapist. She never had the opportunity to work in her chosen field because of an anxiety illness called “Panic Disorder." Her first anxiety attack happened at the young age of 13 and worsened to the point of severe agoraphobia in 1978, two years after graduation from college. Her way out was to take baby steps. The goal was to face her fears and use her energies toward something she believes in or is passionate about. She decided to use her own experiences to help others going through similar challenges of their own. Anita created Baby Steps Press with the goal of editing and publishing one book, an anthology entitled, ‘Write From the Heart; Lesbians Healing from Heartache.' As of 2000, she has written or edited 6 more books that were published under Baby Steps Press. They are: - If You Want to Soar, You’ve Got to Learn to Fly, - Life isn’t Just a Panic, - Pets’ Peeves, - From Grief to Action; "Caring" On the Spirits of Princess Diana and Mother Teresa, And a revised edition of: - 'Write from the Heart; Lesbians Healing from Heartache.' Anita inserts humor and doses of reality which shine a light at the end of the tunnel. Her hope is that her readers see that there can be a way out of the darkness and feelings of isolation. Anita currently lives in Beaverton, Oregon with her partner, 4 dogs and 2 tuxedo cats which combined, makes for an energetic household and life of true love.
